In Bolzano the Christmas light has officially been turned on: the city, in fact, is ready to host the traditional and famous Mercatini. Inaugurated in the late afternoon of Thursday, November 25, they will be active from November 26 to January 6, 2022 at Walther Square.

On this occasion, in the presence of Simon Thun (Vice President of Lenet Group) and the main authorities, the great "Tree of Wishes" was inaugurated, the iconic 19-meter-high fir tree decorated with clay works created by the children hospitalized in the pediatric and child neuropsychiatry wards during the ceramic-therapy workshops offered by the Lene Thun Onlus Foundation (part of Lenet Group) at the San Maurizio Hospital in Bolzano and the Tappeiner Hospital in Merano. The spherical, heart-shaped creations represent the dreams and hopes of the children undergoing treatment and, at the same time, a collective embrace after two difficult years with little human contact.

An embrace that this year, thanks to the patronage of the Province, becomes even wider and welcomes also the thoughts and wishes of the children and young people of the schools of the territory (both Italian and German speaking), who took part in the project of the Tree of Wishes by decorating a colorful circle of shapes.

The Tree, therefore, tells the stories of all the children and young people of the community and, in the most magical time of the year and in a historical moment in which closeness and human contact have never been so significant and necessary, symbolically embraces the city of Bolzano and the whole of Italy.

"We are delighted to inaugurate the Tree of Wishes in our beloved city thanks to the collaboration of the authorities and schools and of course the ongoing commitment of the Lene Thun Foundation. This collective work symbolizes the hope and desires of children, which are the most precious thing we have, and intends to unite the entire community in a warm embrace - is the message of Gerhart Gostner, President of the Lene Thun Foundation Onlus - On this occasion, we want to wish everyone a peaceful Christmas, full of joy and hope.

"The special attention that this historic company of Bolzano reserves for tourist events of national importance deserves a heartfelt thank you - comments Dr. Roland Buratti, President of the Tourist Board - The Christmas Market, the first in Italy, owes much to this partnership that makes us proud of the city's excellence and that supports tourism with important and essential ethical values".
